Important Message from Pastor Stuart

We invite everyone to join us for worship each Sunday, however our Bishop, Mary Virginia Taylor, has issued a mandate that all churches in the Holston Conference not gather for worship until further notice.  We will resume worship in our Sanctuary as soon as we can, but until then, we offer Drive-IN Worship on Sundays at 10:45AM and we offer worship online. We will record a simple version of worship Sunday morning and send everyone a link enabling you to access us online. Please let me know if you would like that link.

Also, remember that church expenses go on even in the absence of worship. Please continue with your tithes and offerings.  Check out the information below.

Easter Sunday Worship

Join us for worship on Easter Sunday. We will begin the day with a celebration of the Resurrection OUTSIDE on the plaza of the Old Mill Historic District in Pigeon Forge at 7:00AM. The Plaza is located in front of the Pottery House Restaurant,  We will also celbrate the Resurrection in worship at 10:45 AM in our Sanctuary.  We would love to have you for either or both events.

During these days and weeks of quarantines and social distancing, you have a way to contribute to our church’s ministry online- without ever having to leave your home. The following link, https://holston-reg.brtapp.com/ChurchOffering, has been set up for you to be able to donate directly to our church. Once you click on the link, you will fill out your name, address, phone, and email. Then, you will select your district (Smoky Mountain) from a drop down menu, and then select our church (First UMC- Pigeon Forge). Finally, you select the amount you would like to give and hit the blue button. This will take you to a screen where you can enter your debit/credit card information. The whole process takes about 1 minute. This option will go away when we resume meeting again, but for now, it is one option. As always, the US Mail is available, you can drop off your contributions at the church, or the pastor will be happy to pick up your contribution at your door.

Our Response to Corona Virus-Drive-In Worship

During these are difficult and uncharted waters of a virus pandemic, we have a plan that we hope will work and satisfy the urging of our government and church leaders to stay in and practice social distancing. Until this pandemic storm passes, we will offer “drive-in” worship on Sunday mornings at 10:45. If you would like to continue the practice of going to church on Sunday morning, park your vehicles in our parking lot and at 10:45, we will broadcast worship to you in your cars over FM 90.1. The signal will not go beyond our parking lot, so you need to be in our parking lot and it will be a little like a drive in theater. We think this is a novel approach to combat a novel virus. If you would rather not get out, we will record a message on Sunday morning and send a link for you to access worship online or you can find it on this website on Sunday afternoons.

If you are comfortable getting out, please gather with us in your cars in our parking lot on Sunday morning. We would love to see you there. This could be a lot of fun. If you are feeling really adventurous, you can roll down your window and wave to your fellow worshippers.

Lenten Study

After the virus pandemic goes away, join us for Weekly Bible Study during the season of Lent. Our study is entitled “The Path to the Cross.” This video-based study takes us to significant places in the Holy Land. We join teacher and historian Ray Vander Laan as he guides us through the land of the Bible and illuminates the historical, geographical and cultural context of Scripture. Filmed on location in the Middle East, this study will transform your understanding of God and challenge you to live a life of sacrifice and obedience. Our studies take place Tuesday nights vat 5:30 PM in Room 110. Our study schedule looks like this:

April 7- The Fifth Cup: Our Way of Hope- A Visit to Gethsemane

April 14- The Way of the Essenes- A Visit to Qumran

April 21- Into the Desert to be Tested- A Visit to En Gedi

Join Us for Worship on Wednesdays

We restart on Aoril 1 (we hope).  Wedenday Night is our opportunity for Prayer and Praise.  Beginning at 5:45PM each Wednesday, the first 15 minutes are a corporate prayer time. Then, at 6PM, we transition into praise and worship along with a brief message from our Youth and Children's Ministry Director- Scott Burnette.  Service concludes at 6:30 PM.  This is a worship opportunity for parents who are picking up their children from the Illuminate ministry as well as those whose work schedules prevent them for being present for Sunday worship.  Worship will be a bit more informal and music a bit more contemporary than our worship times on Sundays.  Everyone is invited!
